ATLAS fencing maul or garden hammer handle of ash wood, with head size 57 x 28 mm and length 110 cm. Suitable for a fencing maul or garden hammer with an oval hole, such as the plastic garden hammer with item number 650850. Because of the handle’s oval shape the hammer head always aligns in the correct striking direction. No wedge is required to mount this tapered handle.

ATLAS fencing maul and hammer handles are made from ash butt sections, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash undergoes two drying processes: during the first process sawn ash planks are air-dried. During the second process the ash is re-dried in a climate chamber under computer control. By re-drying the handle does not shrink and the hammer head remains firmly fixed to the handle.

Next the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based carnauba. This allows the wood to breathe, prevents it from absorbing water or dirt, and preserves the attractive natural color. Waxing provides a longer service life and a pleasant smooth handle, which helps prevent blisters. Moreover, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
