Splitting maul handle ATLAS made of hickory wood, with head size 50 x 30 mm and length 90 cm. Due to the oval shape of the handle the maul head is always in the correct striking orientation. For assembly of the handle two metal hammer wedges No. 4A with article number 651455 are recommended.
Hickory is a heavy and hard American wood species that is even stronger than ash wood. Hickory wood is particularly tough, shock-resistant and resilient. Also, the ATLAS hickory handle is waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This ensures the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt and retains its beautiful natural color. Waxing provides a longer service life and a pleasant smooth handle, preventing blisters. Moreover, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
ATLAS hickory splitting maul handles are, for the most part, manufactured energy-neutrally in the Netherlands.
