Hickory is a heavy and hard American wood species that is even stronger than ash wood. Hickory wood is particularly tough, shock-resistant and resilient. The ATLAS hickory handle is also waxed with the plant-based Carnauba. This ensures that the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt, and retains its beautiful light natural colour. The waxing provides a longer lifespan and a pleasantly smooth handle, preventing blisters. Moreover, waxing handles with a plant-based wax is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
ATLAS hickory hammer handles are, for the most part, manufactured energy-neutral in the Netherlands and are available in various lengths and versions.
