ATLAS spade handle made of ash wood, length 80 cm, fitted with a fiber core, a T-grip and a milled, smooth, narrow point, suitable for a Spear & Jackson spade or ATLAS gooseneck spade. The handle is equipped with an almost unbreakable 16 mm thick glass fiber reinforcement. This glass fiber rod is milled into the underside of the handle. The handle has the same length as the original Spear & Jackson spade handle. For assembly a 40 mm rivet is advised (article number 651590, including mounting advice).

ATLAS spade handles are made from ash rootstocks, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-resistant and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process sawn ash planks are air-dried. During the second process the ash wood is re-dried in a climate chamber under computer control. Because of the re-drying the handle does not shrink and tools remain firmly attached to the handle.

Next the ATLAS handles are waxed with plant-based carnauba. This ensures that the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt and retains its beautiful natural color. Waxing provides a longer service life and a pleasant smooth handle, which prevents blisters. Moreover, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.

ATLAS spade handles are manufactured completely energy-neutral in the Netherlands and are available in various lengths and versions.
