Manure fork handle or tine handle ATLAS of ash wood, bent model with a length of 130 cm, provided with a spring ferrule and a drilled hole. Suitable for forks with a pin connection.

ATLAS fork handles are made from ash rootstocks, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process sawn ash wood planks are air-dried. During the second process the ash wood is computer-controlled re-dried in a climate chamber. By re-drying the handle does not shrink, and tools remain firmly attached to the handle.

Next the ATLAS fork handles are bent in boiling water. This causes the wood grain or fibre in the handle to bend along and prevents the grain from running out of the handle (a running grain is weaker). The bending process makes the handle extremely strong.

Finally the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This ensures that the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt and retains its attractive natural colour. The waxing provides a longer lifespan and a pleasant smooth handle, which prevents blisters. Moreover, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
