Knob handle ATLAS of ash wood, bent handle without grip in length 110 cm. This handle is often used together with a spade.

ATLAS knob handles are made from ash wood lower trunks, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process the sawn ash wood planks are air-dried. During the second process the ash wood is computer-controlled re-dried in a climate chamber. By re-drying the handle does not shrink and tools remain rock-solidly attached to the handle.

Next, the ATLAS knob handles are bent in boiling water. This causes the wood grain or fibre in the handle to bend along and prevents the grain from running out of the handle (a run-out grain is weaker). The bending process makes the handle extremely strong.

Finally, the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This ensures that the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt and retains its natural light colour. Waxing provides a longer service life and a pleasant smooth handle, preventing blisters. Moreover, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
