Scoop shovel ATLAS DIAMANT Dutch model with socket position 3/4 bent and blade size 0, delivered complete with ATLAS shovel handle in length 110 cm. The hardened blade is blue lacquered and has a bright polished, sharp edge.

The ASH ATLAS shovel handle is made from ash rootstocks, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood has been re-dried in a climate chamber under computer control. As a result the handle does not shrink, tools remain rock-solid on the handle and the through-mount T-grip can be pressed onto the handle without glue or a staple. ATLAS handles are bent in boiling water. This causes the wood grain or fibre in the handle to bend with it and prevents the grain from running out of the handle. The bending process makes the handle extremely strong. In addition, the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based Carnauba, which provides a longer lifespan and a pleasant smooth handle, helping to prevent blisters.

Explanation of socket angle
The socket angle indicates the angle relative to the blade. The higher the socket angle, the more slanted the socket. This determines whether a spade or shovel is designed for stabbing (digging) or scooping. The socket angle is measured from the ground to the socket when the blade lies flat on the ground.

Straight: the handle stands almost straight up from the blade
1/4: the socket is bent up 35 mm, for example for digging shovels
1/2: the socket is bent up 55 mm, for example for scoop shovels and concrete shovels
3/4: the socket is bent up 70 cm, for example for scoop shovels and deep shovels

Explanation of blade width
In the past there were blade widths that ran from number 2 down to 0, with 2 being the largest. Over time the blades had to be made smaller for working conditions and smaller sizing was introduced.
