The aluminium blade is hardened, which prevents premature wear on the underside and sides. In addition, the grain shovel is fitted with a sturdy aluminium wear strip, resulting in less wear to the front edge of the blade.
ATLAS grain shovels are very strong, lightweight and ideal for scooping large, light volumes. The blade of the OFFNER JUMBO grain shovel is extra large.
ATLAS YD-handles are made from ash wood rootstocks, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes. Because of the re-drying the handle does not shrink, and the tool remains firmly fixed to the handle.
Next, the ATLAS YD handles are bent in boiling water. This causes the wood grain or fibre in the handle to bend along and prevents the grain from running out of the handle (a grain that runs out is weaker). The bending process makes the handle extremely strong.
Finally, the ATLAS handle is waxed with the plant-based Carnauba. This ensures the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt, and retains its beautiful natural color.
