hickory is a heavy and hard American wood species that is even stronger than ash wood. hickory wood is particularly tough, shock-resistant and resilient. The ATLAS hickory handle is also waxed with plant-based Carnauba wax. This ensures that the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt and retains its attractive light natural color. The waxing provides a longer service life and a pleasant smooth handle, which helps prevent blisters. Moreover, waxing handles with plant-based wax is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
