ATLAS push pole made of ash wood, length 300 cm and diameter 3.5 cm, pointed and fitted with a strong through-mount T-grip.

A push pole is also called a vaarboom, bootstok or skippers' pole and is used for poling. This is the term for propelling a small skiff or boat forward.

ATLAS push poles are made from lower trunks of ash, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-resistant and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process sawn ash planks are air-dried. During the second process the ash wood is re-dried in a climate chamber under computer control. Because of the re-drying the handle does not shrink, tools remain firmly attached to the handle and the through-mount T-grip can be pressed onto the handle without glue or staples.

Afterwards the push pole is waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This ensures the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt, and retains its nice natural color. The waxing provides a longer lifespan and a pleasant smooth handle, preventing blisters. Moreover, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.

ATLAS ash push poles are manufactured entirely energy-neutrally in the Netherlands.
