Axe handle ATLAS 40 cm bent, head size 48 x 20 mm, for an 800-gram axe

ATLAS axe handle of ash wood, with eye size 48 x 17 mm and length 40 cm. This bent handle is suitable for an axe weighing 800 grams. For mounting the handle the axe wedge set with item number 651810 is recommended (wooden wedge 45 x 60 mm and 2 metal wedges no.2 16 mm).

ATLAS axe handles are made from ash rootstocks, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process sawn ash planks are air-dried. During the second process the ash wood is re-dried in a climate chamber controlled by computer. Because of the re-drying the handle does not shrink and the axe head remains firmly attached to the handle.

Subsequently the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This ensures the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt and retains its beautiful natural color. Waxing provides a longer lifespan and a pleasant smooth handle, preventing blisters. Moreover, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
