ATLAS axe handle made of Hickory wood for a 1250-gram axe, bent model with head size 64 x 22 mm and length 60 cm. For fitting the handle the axe wedge set with article number 651815 is recommended (large wooden wedge + 2 metal wedges no.4).
Hickory is a heavy and hard American wood species that is even stronger than ash wood. Hickory wood is particularly tough, shock-resistant and resilient. The ATLAS Hickory handle is also waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This ensures that the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt and retains its nice natural light color. The waxing provides a longer lifespan and a pleasant smooth handle, preventing blisters. Moreover, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
ATLAS Hickory axe handles are, for the most part, manufactured energy-neutral in the Netherlands and are available in various lengths and designs.
