The ash wood of this Atlas shovel handle is tough, shock-absorbing, and strong.
ATLAS shovel handle made of ash wood, bent model, 130 cm long. A shovel handle is often used together with a concrete shovel, scoop shovel, stable shovel, or a cable shovel. A length of 130 cm is by far the most requested length and is widely used by, among others, in infrastructure and by cable layers.
ATLAS shovel handles are made from ash rootstocks, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing, and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process, sawn ash wood planks are air-dried. During the second process, the ash wood is computer-controlled re-dried in a climate chamber. Because of this re-drying, tools stay firmly attached to the handle.
An Atlas shovel handle made of ash wood is bent in boiling water.
Next, the ATLAS shovel handles are bent in boiling water. This allows the wood grain or fiber in the handle to bend along with it, preventing the grain from running out of the handle (running grain is weaker). The bending process makes the handle extremely strong.
Finally, the ATLAS shovel handle is waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This allows the wood to breathe, prevents it from absorbing water or dirt, and helps it retain its beautiful natural color. Waxing provides a longer service life and a pleasantly smooth handle, helping prevent blisters. In addition, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
ATLAS shovel handles are manufactured entirely carbon-neutrally in the Netherlands and are available in various lengths and models.
