ATLAS knob handle made of ash wood, bent handle without grip, length 110 cm. This handle is often used together with a spade.
ATLAS knob handles are made from ash rootstock, which contains the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing, and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process, sawn ash wood boards are air-dried. During the second process, the ash wood is computer-controlled redried in a climate chamber. By redrying, the handle does not shrink and tools remain firmly attached to the handle.
The ATLAS knob handles are then bent in boiling water. This causes the wood grain or fiber in the handle to bend along with it and prevents the grain from running out of the handle (a running grain is weaker). The bending process makes the handle extremely strong.
Finally, the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This allows the wood to breathe, prevents it from absorbing water or dirt, and preserves its beautiful natural color. The waxing ensures a longer service life and a pleasantly smooth handle, which helps prevent blisters. In addition, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
ATLAS knob handles are manufactured entirely energy-neutral in the Netherlands and are available in various versions.
