Unlike a zinc mallet, a lead mallet has a rounded edge. The round shape prevents damage to soft lead. The ATLAS lead mallet is often used in construction and in the roofing trade.
The round bent shape of the lead mallet is indispensable when shaping sheet lead. A lead mallet is used to set sheet lead, to drive the sheet lead, or to hammer it into the correct shape.
The round striking surface concentrates the force on the desired spot and leaves no sharp “hammer marks” on the soft lead. This also allows deep recesses to be shaped properly.
