The blade of an OFFNER ballast shovel is extra hardened. This prevents premature wear on the underside and sides of the blade. The steel strip on the front protects the blade and ensures a longer service life. An aluminium OFFNER ballast shovel is very strong and lightweight. A ballast shovel is ideal for moving large, light volumes.
ATLAS plastic D-handles are made from ash wood rootstock, which contains the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing, and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes. By redrying, the handle does not shrink, keeping the tool firmly attached to the handle.
Next, the ATLAS plastic D-handles are bent in boiling water. This allows the wood grain to follow the curve in the handle and prevents the grain from running out of the handle (a running grain is weaker). The bending process makes the handle extremely strong.
Finally, the ATLAS handle is waxed with the plant-based Carnauba. This allows the wood to breathe, prevents it from absorbing water or dirt, and preserves its beautiful natural color.
