Forged clay spade round-shaped model. Polished, forged, hollow-ground, and equipped with a sturdy ATLAS T-handle with a length of 100 cm. This Betuwe clay spade is forged from a single block of iron, smoothly polished, and has a characteristic sharp hollow edge. The hollow edge makes it possible to cut or dig into the soil very precisely. Because of the former Merkus forge in Elst, this product is still sold mainly in the Betuwe region. Atlas handles are made of ash wood, bent in boiling water (these are extra strong because the grain follows the curve), are mirror-smooth waxed (prevents blisters), and kiln-dried (the handle does not shrink and the tool stays firmly attached). Summing up all the advantages, this spade with Atlas handle is truly a pleasure to work with. Also available with a shorter handle (art. no. 810120).
