Axe handle ATLAS of ash wood, with head size 62 x 28 mm and length 75 cm. This bent handle is suitable for an axe with a weight of 1600 1250 grams. For mounting the handle the axe wedge set with article number 651815 is recommended (wooden wedge 70 x 80 mm and 2 metal wedges no.4 22 mm).
ATLAS axe handles are made from ash wood lower trunks, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process sawn ash wood boards are air-dried. During the second process the ash wood is re-dried in a climate chamber under computer control. By re-drying the handle does not shrink and the axe head remains firmly fixed to the handle.
Subsequently the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This ensures that the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt, and retains its beautiful natural color. Waxing provides a longer service life and a pleasant smooth handle, preventing blisters. Moreover, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
ATLAS axe handles are manufactured entirely energy-neutrally in the Netherlands and are available in various lengths and versions.
