Axe handle ATLAS made of ash wood, with head dimensions of 65 x 30 mm and a length of 90 cm. This bent handle is the most commonly used version and is suitable for an axe weighing 2000 grams. For mounting the handle, the axe wedge set with item number 651815 is recommended (wooden wedge 70 x 80 mm and 2 metal wedges no. 4 22 mm).
ATLAS axe handles are made from ash tree trunks, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing, and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process, sawn ash wood planks are air-dried. During the second process, the ash wood is computer-controlled re-dried in a climate chamber. Because of the re-drying, the handle does not shrink and the axe head stays rock-solid on the handle.
Next, the ATLAS handle is waxed with the plant-based Carnauba. This allows the wood to breathe, prevents it from absorbing water or dirt, and helps it retain its beautiful light color. Waxing ensures a longer service life and a pleasantly smooth handle, which helps prevent blisters. In addition, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
ATLAS axe handles are manufactured entirely energy-neutral in the Netherlands and are available in various lengths and versions.
