ATLAS sledge hammer handle made of ash wood, with a head size of 45 x 28 mm and a length of 90 cm. Suitable for hammers weighing 4 kilos. Due to the oval shape of the handle, the hammer head is always in the correct striking direction. For mounting the handle, two metal hammer wedges no. 4a with item number 651455 are recommended.
ATLAS sledge hammer and hammer handles are made from ash tree rootstock, which contains the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing, and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process, sawn ash wood planks are air-dried. During the second process, the ash wood is computer-controlled kiln-dried in a climate chamber. Because of the kiln-drying, the handle does not shrink and the hammer head stays firmly attached to the handle.
Next, the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This allows the wood to breathe, prevents it from absorbing water or dirt, and helps it retain its beautiful light color. The waxing provides a longer service life and a pleasantly smooth handle, helping prevent blisters. Moreover, waxing handles with plant-based wax is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
ATLAS sledge hammer handles are manufactured entirely in the Netherlands with energy neutrality and are available in various lengths and designs.
