D-handle ATLAS 85 cm straight

D-handle ATLAS of ash wood, straight handle with a length of 85 cm. This handle is suitable for a steel or aluminium ballast shovel. The comfortable D-grip and sturdy handle are manufactured from a single piece by a CNC-controlled machine. The D-grip's handhold is reinforced with a metal pin.

ATLAS D-handles are made from ash lower trunks, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: in the first, sawn ash wood boards are air-dried. In the second, the ash wood is re-dried in a climate chamber under computer control. Because of the re-drying the handle does not shrink, keeping tools firmly attached to the handle.

Subsequently the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based carnauba. This ensures that the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt and retains its attractive natural colour. Waxing provides a longer lifespan and a pleasant smooth handle, preventing blisters. Moreover, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.

ATLAS D-handles are manufactured completely energy-neutral in the Netherlands and are available in various lengths and versions.
