D-handle ATLAS of ash wood, straight handle, length 90 cm, specially pointed for a fork with forged tines. The comfortable D-grip and robust handle are manufactured from a single piece by a CNC-controlled machine. The D-grip's handhold is reinforced with a metal pin.
ATLAS D-handles are made from ash root trunks, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first process sawn ash planks are air-dried. During the second process the ash wood is re-dried in a climate chamber controlled by computer. Because of the re-drying the handle does not shrink and tools remain firmly attached to the handle.
Subsequently the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based carnauba wax. This ensures that the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt and retains its beautiful natural color. Waxing provides a longer lifespan and a pleasant smooth handle, preventing blisters. Moreover, waxing handles with a plant-based wax is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
ATLAS D-handles are manufactured completely energy-neutral in the Netherlands and are available in various lengths and versions.
