ATLAS edging knife handle made of ash wood, straight handle with a wide grip and spring ferrule, length 85 cm. This handle is suitable for edging knives with a pin. The 24 cm wide grip ensures a comfortable hold and good working posture.
ATLAS edging knife handles are made from ash rootstocks, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first, sawn ash wood boards are air-dried. During the second process the ash wood is re-dried in a climate chamber under computer control. Because of the re-drying the handle does not shrink and tools remain firmly attached to the handle.
Next the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based carnauba. This allows the wood to breathe, prevents it from absorbing water or dirt and preserves its attractive natural color. Waxing extends its service life and gives a pleasant smooth handle, preventing blisters. Moreover, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
