Spade handle ATLAS made of ash wood, length 90 cm, fitted with a T-grip and a milled, smooth, narrow point, among others suitable for a Spear & Jackson spade or ATLAS gooseneck spade. This handle is 10 cm longer than the original Spear & Jackson spade handle. For assembly a 40 mm rivet is advised (article number 651590, assembly advice included).
ATLAS spade handles are made from ash rootstocks, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-resistant and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process sawn ash wood planks are air-dried. During the second process the ash wood is re-dried under computer control in a climate chamber. By re-drying the handle does not shrink and tools remain firmly fixed to the handle.
Next the ATLAS handles are waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This ensures that the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt and retains its beautiful natural color. Waxing provides a longer service life and a pleasant smooth handle, which prevents blisters. Moreover, waxing handles with plant-based wax is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
ATLAS spade handles are manufactured completely energy-neutrally in the Netherlands and are available in various lengths and versions.
