ATLAS plastic D-handle made of ash wood, straight handle with a plastic D-grip, length 85 cm. This handle has a milled-in tip, suitable for an aluminium ballast shovel with item number 797018. The comfortable PD-grip of this handle consists of a strong plastic grip with an ash wood hand grip. This handle is often used together with a grain shovel, ballast shovel, or rubble fork.
ATLAS plastic D-handles are made from ash rootstock, which contains the best wood. Ash wood is tough, impact-resistant, and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process, sawn ash wood planks are air-dried. During the second process, the ash wood is computer-controlled re-dried in a climate chamber. Because of the re-drying, the handle does not shrink, and tools remain firmly attached to the handle.
The ATLAS handle is then waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This allows the wood to breathe, prevents it from absorbing water or dirt, and preserves its beautiful natural color. The waxing results in a longer service life and a pleasantly smooth handle, helping prevent blisters. In addition, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
