Strong OFFNER ditch scythe with a sharp edge and bent ATLAS handle.
Forged OFFNER ditch scythe or edge scythe, Zwei Rinder version in a length of 45 cm, with a large tang angle (flat position) and a sharp edge. Delivered assembled with bent ATLAS handle in a length of 140 cm. Suitable for professional use.
This ditch scythe is also called a heath scythe. This model is ideal for mowing and cutting out reeds, grass, and regrowth on slopes, banks, and wet hay meadows. The tang of this scythe sits flatter (large tang angle) than that of a standard scythe. This keeps the correct mowing angle underwater while the user stands on the bank. Because of the 45 cm width, the Zwei Rinder ditch scythe is ideal for winding banks or rougher terrain.
The ATLAS shovel handle is made from ash wood lower trunks, which contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing, and strong. The ash wood has been computer-controlled re-dried in a climate chamber. This prevents the handle from shrinking, keeps tools firmly attached to the handle, and allows the through-mount T-grip to be pressed onto the handle without glue or a staple.
ATLAS handles are bent in boiling water. This allows the wood grain or fiber in the handle to bend along with it and prevents the grain from running out of the handle. The bending process makes the handle extremely strong. In addition, the ATLAS shovel handle is waxed with the plant-based Carnauba wax, which ensures a longer service life and a pleasantly smooth handle, helping prevent blisters.
By combining the ditch scythe with a long pole or ditch hook handle, reeds and other vegetation can be mown far into the water. Long poles and ditch hook handles are available in different lengths.
