Spitriek handle ATLAS of ash wood, straight T-handle, length 80 cm, with wide through-mount T-grip. This handle is, among others, suitable for the pointed spade Boskoop model with article number 810170. The 24 cm wide grip provides a comfortable hold and a good working posture. Two rivets are required for assembly (see article number 651620, also for the assembly advice).
ATLAS spitriek handles are made from ash rootstocks; these contain the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process sawn ash boards are air-dried. During the second process the ash wood is redried in a climate chamber under computer control. Because of the redrying the handle does not shrink, tools remain firmly fixed to the handle and the through-mount T-grip can be pressed onto the handle without glue or a staple.
Subsequently the ATLAS handle is waxed with plant-based Carnauba. This ensures that the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt and retains its attractive natural colour. The waxing provides a longer service life and a pleasant smooth handle, thereby preventing blisters. Moreover, waxing handles with plant-based wax is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
