ATLAS shovel handle made of ash wood, lightly bent T-handle in a length of 110 cm, with a strong through-mount T-grip. A lightly bent shovel handle is often used together with a digging shovel, concrete shovel, scoop shovel, or a cable shovel.
ATLAS shovel handles are made from ash rootstock, which contains the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing, and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process, sawn ash wood boards are air-dried. During the second process, the ash wood is computer-controlled re-dried in a climate chamber. Because of the re-drying, the handle does not shrink, the tool stays firmly attached to the handle, and the through-mount T-grip can be pressed onto the handle without glue or a staple.
Next, the ATLAS shovel handles are bent in boiling water. This causes the grain or fiber in the handle to bend along with it and prevents the grain from running out of the handle (a grain that runs out is weaker). The bending process makes the handle extremely strong.
Finally, the ATLAS handle is waxed with the plant-based Carnauba wax. This allows the wood to breathe, prevents it from absorbing water or dirt, and preserves its beautiful natural color. Waxing ensures a longer service life and a pleasantly smooth handle, helping prevent blisters. In addition, waxing handles with plant-based wax is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
ATLAS shovel handles are manufactured entirely in the Netherlands in an energy-neutral way and are available in various lengths and versions.
