Pickaxe handle or pioch handle ATLAS round made of ash wood, with a head size of 55 mm and a length of 90 cm. Suitable for pickaxes with a round eye. No splice or wedge is needed to mount this tapered handle.
ATLAS pickaxe handles are made from ash wood rootstock, which contains the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing, and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process, sawn ash wood planks are air-dried. During the second process, the ash wood is computer-controlled re-dried in a climate chamber. Because of the re-drying, the handle does not shrink and the tool remains firmly fixed to the handle.
The ATLAS handle is then waxed with the plant-based Carnauba. This allows the wood to breathe, prevents it from absorbing water or dirt, and preserves its beautiful light color. The waxing ensures a longer service life and a pleasantly smooth handle, helping prevent blisters. In addition, plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
ATLAS pickaxe handles are manufactured entirely carbon-neutrally in the Netherlands and are available in various lengths and versions.
