This strong forged spade is also called a trenching spade or drainage spade. The spade is ideal for digging a narrow trench for, for example, ground cable, irrigation, or drainage. Thanks to the slightly pointed blade, the spade easily penetrates the soil. Because of the length of the blade, the trench can easily be made deep enough so cables and pipes are at a safe depth.
The blade has a sharp polished edge. This means less resistance while digging and less soil sticks to the blade. The large round treads prevent damage to footwear while digging. Due to the rounded shape of the treads, they do not catch on anything.
