Splitting maul handle or splitting ax handle ATLAS made of ash wood, with head dimensions of 52 x 32 mm and a length of 90 cm. Because of the oval shape of the handle, the ax head is always positioned in the correct striking direction. For mounting the handle, two metal hammer wedges no. 4a with item number 651455 are recommended.
ATLAS splitting maul handles are made from ash rootstock, which contains the best wood. Ash wood is tough, shock-absorbing, and strong. The ash wood undergoes two drying processes: during the first drying process, sawn ash wood boards are air-dried. During the second process, the ash wood is computer-controlled re-dried in a climate chamber. Because of the re-drying, the handle does not shrink and the ax head stays firmly attached to the handle.
The ATLAS handle is then waxed with the plant-based Carnauba. This ensures that the wood can breathe, does not absorb water or dirt, and retains its beautiful light color. The waxing provides a longer service life and a pleasantly smooth handle, which helps prevent blisters. Moreover, the plant-based waxing of handles is better for the environment than using varnish or paraffin.
ATLAS splitting maul handles are manufactured entirely energy-neutral in the Netherlands and are available in various lengths and versions.
